The Sf Artists wiki was created in 2008 by Cheryl Morgan and Anne KG Murphy as a sister project with the SF Editors wiki, another part of the Science Fiction Awards Watch family of resources.

The SF Artists wiki is intended to be a reservoir of information about science fiction and fantasy artists and their work. Biographical information is welcome, both for active artists and for artists who have retired, moved on to other things, or passed away; let the dead who are otherwise lost to us be captured in memory and sustained appreciation. If a combination of biography and lists of works makes articles seem unwieldy or overly long, they may be broken up into multiple pages, but we do not otherwise have any issues with length and detail of content, so long as the content is of quality, and respectful to the artist.

The field of science fiction and fantasy art should be considered in the inclusive sense in the wiki, from book and magazine illustration to cartoons, comic books and graphic novels, board, card, and video games, and even CGI and conceptual design for film and TV. Similarly, all media from digital to paint to sculpture to ones not invented yet are acceptable tools for the SF artist; we are not snobs here.

However, we do request that articles be limited to artists who pursue and share their art in either a professional or a fannish sense; hobbyists who are not published (fanzines and convention materials count as publishing for our purposes) or whose work has not been exhibited or sold anywhere are asked not to use this wiki for self-promotion.
